Malta
Valletta - 19/3/22 > 30/3/22

The fact of the day: There are a whopping 365 churches and chapels on the Maltese islands. Yes, thatā€™s one for every day!

- Malta is a country Iā€™d never have expected to find myself in, but what an adventure it was. Letā€™s dive straight in!
- As you can see from the golden hue buildings and structures photographed below, limestone was, and is still to this day, the preferred building material of choice. The sunshine bouncing off the buildings and accompanied by the blue skies created so many breathtaking and picturesque moments.
- With spirits running high from day one we adventured into chapels, museums, and coffee shops, whilst walking around as much of the city as our legs would allow before hopping on electric scooters to explore the city in style.
- We visited the Upper Barrakka Gardens offering a panoramic view of the Grand Harbour, which also overlooked the Saluting Battery. The Battery fires gunpowder from cannons twice per day, 12pm and 4pm to mark the passage of time, and also for anniversaries, and religious feasts. From the 1820's (I had to google) a gun was also fired at midday to signal out the exact hour of the day by which Ship Masters would calibrate their chronographs on board. I managed to get some amazing snaps of the cannon fire in action, see below.
- Popeye Village, a 40-minute drive from Valletta, was a 1980ā€™s film set of the musical production 'Popeye', today it has transformed into one of the major tourist attractions in Malta. As the evening drew to a close and golden hour took place, the surrounding rock formations began to glow. A large oil tanker positioned itself under the sun making everything more epic. A lovely moment I will always remember.
- Myself and Kristina agreed we do not have enough pictures of ourselves, so the challenge was to get more portraits where possible. We gave it our best shot taking snaps in various locations around the city, our favourite spot was overlooking the Grand Harbour... where I crashed my drone on its first flight.
