Chiang Rai - Baan Mai Kradan Hostel, Chiang Rai Hotel, Happynest Hostel - 11/11 > 22/11

I planned to visit Pai next, but it was all booked out with people from the Loy Krathong Festival, so I came to Chiang Rai.

- As there are only a handful of things to do here in Chiang Rai it would give me time to concentrate on this travel blog, I had to stop adventuring for a short period, or I’d forever be chasing my tail.
- I’d adventure out to see some temples and museums, we have snaps on the following: Wat Rong Suea Ten (Blue Temple), Wat Rong Khun (White Temple), Wat Huay Pla Kang (Big Buddha), Baan Dam Museum (Black House Museum).
- I’m munching on pork and noodles or sweet chilli chicken and trying new dishes such as chicken khao soi. Quickly learning “medium spice” blows my head off!
- As an insight, music here is similar to this https://open.spotify.com/track/0ktzYGG3e1tQZfdNvYL1hN?si=f5632c0979514ec6
- Spent more time here than expected, mostly people watching and hitting the gym.
- I learned they harvest rubber trees for their sap and turn it into rubber! - Today, Thailand is the largest producer and exporter of natural ‘latex’ rubber. Almost 90% of all Thai rubber is exported and is used to make condoms, balloons, tires and surgical gloves.
- A local took me out to a Thai BBQ where you cook your own selection of food, sea food, meats, noodles and veg. I tried chicken feet, snails and an assortment of fish, but couldn’t manage the intestine..
